Apple acquired a small music software company named Samplab. This acquisition appears to aim at enhancing Logic Pro for music producers. Samplab had developed intriguing artificial intelligence tools that allow editing of individual notes within recorded audio files. Now that this technology is in Apple's hands, the features may soon be integrated directly into the company's creative software packages. The artificial intelligence-supported audio editing application Samplab is now part of Apple, following its establishment in Zurich in 2020, focusing on developing plugins for digital audio workstations (DAW).

One of the company's most notable features was its ability to separate different elements in a mixed recording, such as vocals or drums. It also allowed users to identify and modify specific notes within a recorded chord. Logic Pro has offered its own stem-splitting tools since 2024, and by incorporating Samplab, Apple could advance these capabilities significantly. The transition process has already begun. According to European Union records, Apple reached an agreement in June with an unnamed subsidiary.

Shortly after, Samplab announced it would cease operations and refund current subscribers. Samplab was shut down on September 17, 2026, and its site now redirects to Apple.com.
