a-robo launches GV02NS AI mold monitoring system
a-robo has begun offering its new AI mold monitoring system model, GV02NS, starting October 20, 2026. The new model is designed to detect abnormalities in plastic molds during the forming process and stop the forming machine when necessary. The system is part of the GROW-V product line, which has been officially released since 2023. The launch of GV02NS aims to automate the setup and adjustment tasks that were previously performed by human operators, addressing common field complaints about the inconvenience of resetting monitoring configurations for every mold change. The new model also seeks to reduce false detections caused by lighting changes or camera misalignment, which can lead to production line stoppages, and to prevent missed detections that occur when sensitivity is lowered to avoid false alarms. The development of GV02NS was driven by feedback from users who found that existing monitoring devices were often underutilized due to these operational challenges. The system is intended to improve the reliability of mold monitoring by allowing AI to handle the technical aspects of setup and sensitivity adjustment. The new model is available for purchase immediately, and existing customers of the previous model, GV01NS, can access the new features through a free software update via USB.
The launch marks a significant update to the GROW-V system, focusing on enhancing usability and reducing the manual effort required to maintain effective mold monitoring in industrial settings. The company, headquartered in Saitama, Japan, continues to refine its AI-based monitoring solutions based on ongoing feedback from manufacturing sites. The GV02NS model includes several new features that automate the initial setup process, allowing monitoring to begin in approximately two minutes after pressing a start button while the forming machine is running. This automation includes checking focus, adjusting brightness, recording mold opening and closing movements, determining monitoring areas and judgment timing, and performing initial learning. The system also introduces an AI trigger that detects mold opening and product removal using only camera footage, eliminating the need for wiring to the forming machine's signal lines. This feature allows the system to remain functional even if the forming machine is moved or replaced. Additionally, the GV02NS includes AI threshold adjustment, which analyzes learned images and judgment history to automatically set optimal sensitivity levels for each monitoring area, balancing the risk of missed detections and false alarms.
The system also features updated misalignment correction that tracks product floating and position shifts in each area, ensuring that only genuine abnormalities trigger a stop, even in environments with minor mechanical vibrations. The new model also comes with a redesigned operation screen and operational support functions, including abnormality review cards, false detection checks, precursor alerts, and a test video mode for demonstrations and training without running the forming machine. A traceability tool called GROW-V Tracer is provided as a set, allowing users to export judgment history via USB and automatically aggregate data such as judgment counts, non-conformities, and stoppage times on a PC. The tool supports daily judgment timelines, review of non-conformity images and videos, and PDF output of daily reports and quality records, and can handle data from multiple machines and molds. The free update for GV01NS users ensures that existing customers can benefit from these new capabilities without additional hardware costs. The launch of GV02NS reflects a-robo's commitment to improving the efficiency and reliability of AI-based mold monitoring in the plastic forming industry.
