iPhone Duo In-Store Purchases Face Launch-Day Shortages
Apple’s new iPhone Duo may be difficult to buy directly from stores on launch day, with early stock information pointing to a difficult process for shoppers seeking an in-person purchase.
ShiftDelete carried the report.
Apple employees were informed to warn customers that the device may not be available in stores on launch day. Internal instructions say users who did not preorder should not go to stores expecting to buy it, and Apple Store employees were warned that the situation may disappoint customers.
Apple’s official website says users can check stock status again on October 24, but that date does not mean a device will definitely be in stores. MacRumors shared information that Apple Store employees were told no stock would be allocated for launch day, and some stores may only have enough stock to fulfill preorders, with no additional shipments.
The situation means even users waiting in line outside an Apple Store on launch night may not be able to buy the device. Apple had announced demand was extraordinarily high just before the release, and production constraints known to have continued since release caused limited supply during the launch period.
Current data shows the iPhone Duo model is sold out until January. If production constraints continue, buying the device in the near future may become very difficult. Near release, scalpers were observed demanding very high prices, creating an extra cost for users unable to obtain the device through official channels.
For those wanting the device sooner, carriers and retailers such as Best Buy currently stand out as more reliable options, especially in the United States market, where stock status may differ from Apple Stores. It remains unclear whether Apple will increase production capacity or when supply chain issues will be resolved, and users are advised to contact local stores or follow online channels before buying. Apple’s strategy and stock management will directly affect the device’s market accessibility.
