Samsung launches Galaxy SmartTag 3, now compatible with iOS
Samsung introduced the Galaxy SmartTag 3, a new version of its smart tracking tag that is smaller and lighter than its predecessor. The SmartTag 3 has been upgraded from the SmartTag 2 released in 2023. The design has changed, eliminating the built-in loop in favor of a separate hanging loop. Samsung noted that the size of the SmartTag 3 is reduced by 35% and its weight is decreased by 33% compared to the previous model. The battery life is reported to last for 550 days in normal mode or 790 days in power-saving mode.
A key feature of the Samsung SmartTag 3 is its compatibility with iOS devices. iOS users are required to install the SmartThings Find app to locate their devices. This functionality is suitable for sharing tags among friends or family members who use different mobile operating systems. Another new feature, named Compass View, enhances detection range due to its support for Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding technology, allowing for search direction identification up to 60 meters. When used with ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, it improves search accuracy as users get closer.
Samsung plans to launch the SmartTag 3 initially in South Korea on October 7, 2026, with a price of 44,000 won. Blognone reported the story.
