Disney denies acquisition of Epic Games, emphasizes strong partnership
On October 3, 2026, Dana Walden, the president and chief creative officer of Disney, stated that there are no plans for a full acquisition of Epic Games. Earlier this year, rumors suggested that Disney might completely acquire the company.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Walden acknowledged that Disney had previously conducted thorough discussions regarding investments and equity stakes, but emphasized that a complete acquisition is not currently being discussed.
In 2024, Disney made a significant investment of 1,500,000,000 USD to acquire a 9% stake in Epic Games. Although an acquisition is not on the agenda, Disney and Epic Games are collaborating on future projects and content releases. Walden mentioned that their partnership is very close and that they plan to launch a series of new content over the next two years, showcasing the value of their collaboration.
