Vinci raises $250 million in Series B funding led by Advent, Temasek, and Xora
Vinci has secured $250 million in a Series B funding round led by Advent International, Temasek, and Xora, as announced on October 6. The funding round also included participation from AMD Ventures, Eclipse, Khosla Ventures, and Madrona, bringing the company’s valuation to $1.5 billion.
The company specializes in developing an AI-native computational platform for hardware engineering. Its core feature, termed "Continuous Physics Reasoning," continuously analyzes the physical behavior of products throughout the design process. The platform aims to address the challenge of delayed feedback on design decisions by allowing engineers to investigate physical impacts at the stage where design changes can still be made.
Vinci combines physical modeling with GPU computing to automate the understanding and preparation of design analyses through AI agents. The platform focuses on generating reproducible results based on variations in shape, materials, and operating conditions, without needing to relearn models for each new design.
The computational platform can analyze designs with degrees of freedom ranging from hundreds of millions to over 15 billion in just a few minutes. This capability significantly reduces the analysis time compared to traditional methods, which could take hours or days. Currently, the platform is operational in real engineering programs, targeting analyses related to heat, mechanical deformation due to temperature changes, and fluid dynamics.
The funding will be allocated to expanding the range of physical phenomena that the platform can handle and enhancing design support functionalities. Vinci aims to broaden its focus from semiconductors and advanced computing to include vehicles, aircraft, and satellites. The company also aspires to move from analyzing the outcomes of design changes to recommending improvements based on those analyses.
Plans for investment include the development of AI agents for more advanced design tasks, integration with systems used by customers, and enhancements to talent and computational infrastructure. Vinci is committed to increasing the implementation of its current analysis capabilities while progressing towards suggesting design proposals.
