Netflix has laid off approximately 1,000 employees globally, accounting for about 6% of its total workforce. This action marks the largest reduction in staff since 2022. Affected employees span various departments, including production, technology, legal, and human resources. Greg Peters and Ted Sarandos, co-CEOs of Netflix, sent an email to staff stating that the company's goal of becoming a global entertainment leader requires discipline in resource allocation, including personnel.

They affirmed that Netflix still has a strong business foundation and is capable of carrying out plans throughout this year. Previously, Sarandos had mentioned in an interview that while Netflix's business continues to grow, it is not growing fast enough to meet the company's expectations, presenting a challenge for the company to operate more efficiently and achieve greater results.
