Juventus signs goalkeeper Vicario on loan with option to buy; he shines in Serie A win

Juventus Football Club has completed the signing of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur with a mandatory purchase option. The move was finalised during the summer transfer window.

Vicario made his first significant impact for Juventus in the club’s second Serie A fixture of the season. In the 2-0 victory over Parma at the Allianz Stadium, he delivered a crucial performance under the guidance of manager Luciano Spalletti. During the second half, Vicario made a spectacular save against a Parma attacker’s headed attempt, a reflex action that prevented an almost certain goal.

The moment was widely shared online, including by the official Serie A account on the Indonesian platform. The Lega Serie A posted the clip on X with the caption, “Juventus fans: ‘Oh, this is what it’s like to have a good goalkeeper…’”, a pointed remark aimed at former Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, who was criticised for repeated errors last season and subsequently transferred to Bournemouth.
