Inheritech to shut down self-service inheritance tax filing platform Epilog Sōzoku on 30 October 2026
Inheritech will end its self-service inheritance tax filing platform Epilog Sōzoku on 30 October 2026. The company said the service would stop accepting new registrations from 31 August 2026. Users will lose access to data and draft tax filings stored in the system after the shutdown time on 30 October 2026 at 24:00. Inheritech apologised for the inconvenience to current users.
The company described Epilog Sōzoku as a fully self-service tool that let users prepare inheritance tax returns with simple steps. It said the platform aimed to reduce the burden of inheritance tax filing for customers. Inheritech launched the service and reported that many people used it during its operation.
New registrations will close on 31 August 2026. After that date, no further sign-ups will be accepted. The platform will remain available for existing users until the final shutdown at 24:00 on 30 October 2026. Inheritech warned that all saved property and input data, as well as any draft tax returns, will be permanently deleted once the service ends.
The company stated it will not provide a data download feature or any way to retrieve deleted information after the shutdown. Users who need to keep records are advised to download or save their data before the service ends on 30 October 2026. Inheritech also said it cannot restore individual data or provide separate data after the shutdown.
Inheritech expressed deep gratitude to everyone who used Epilog Sōzoku and thanked supporters for their cooperation during the service period. The company did not provide a reason for the shutdown in its announcement.
