Ema, a provider of "AI Employees" that automate HR, IT, and finance processes for businesses, announced on September 23 that it has raised $77 million in a Series B funding round led by Creaegis. Existing investors Accel and S3 also increased their investments, bringing the total funds raised to $140 million. The company lists customers such as Wipro, Hitachi, ADP, and PwC.

The work performed within companies often involves multiple steps rather than a single operation. For example, onboarding a new employee requires registering in HR systems, issuing work accounts, arranging equipment, and setting up expense reimbursements and attendance. Staff must sequentially open multiple applications and repeatedly transcribe the same information.

Ema's solution, termed "AI Employees," is designed to handle such interconnected processes as a single operation. It allows companies to build AI employees tailored to their business needs on a no-code builder platform. The company emphasizes the automation of repetitive tasks in areas such as customer support, employee experience, HR, sales, marketing, and finance.

The AI Employees integrate with over 250 business applications and systems of record such as HR and accounting data, processing workflows from start to finish while involving human validation for critical decisions. This funding round aims to deploy AI Employees across all departments within companies. Ema reports that these AI Employees are not merely in pilot phases but are being actively used in Fortune 500 companies, with revenue increasing fifty-fold over the past 24 months.
