Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra, expected to debut in September, has reportedly drawn early attention for its performance in the hands of first users who tested pre-release models. According to 3DNews, reviewer Mark Gurman of Bloomberg typically focuses on technical specifications and design, but for this device he emphasized the tactile experience of early testers.

The device, potentially priced at around $2,000, reportedly feels substantial when folded yet remains pocketable. Its hinge mechanism is said to inspire confidence for repeated use, while the flexible display is noted for offering more screen real estate in unfolded mode—resembling an iPad interface—and serving as a viewfinder during photo capture.

Reported limitations include the absence of a telephoto camera and reliance solely on Touch ID for biometric authentication, with Face ID reportedly omitted. Despite these trade-offs, the iPhone Ultra’s status as Apple’s first foldable smartphone is expected to bolster the company’s image and drive broader interest in foldable devices, which competitors have offered for several years. Analysts suggest Apple’s entry could expand the market, even if most consumers opt for traditional iPhone models due to the Ultra’s high price.
