Anew Labs Secures 290 Million USD in Initial Funding
Anew Labs has completed its first independent funding round, raising a total of 290000000 USD. The company, an artificial intelligence drug discovery firm, received investment from several prominent venture capital firms and strategic partners from the pharmaceutical industry. Leiphone reported the story.
The investor group includes IDG, Sequoia China, Hillhouse, 5Y Capital, and Gaorong Capital. In addition to these financial backers, multiple domestic pharmaceutical industry groups participated as strategic investors. The funding marks the company's first capital raise as an independent entity.
The organization was established in June of this year when ByteDance separated its artificial intelligence drug discovery business line. The core team, algorithm platform, and existing pipeline assets were transferred to the new entity. The team, led by Liu Kai, consists of approximately 50 members with expertise in artificial intelligence algorithms and pharmaceuticals. Industry analysis suggests the independent structure aims to attract talent and strategic resources while establishing suitable organizational incentives. Neither Anew Labs nor ByteDance has commented on the news.
