Wavena Secures 200 Million Won Seed Investment From Seoul National University Technology Holding and Joins TIPS Program
Wavena, a deep tech AI healthcare startup, announced on October 12, 2026, that it has raised a 200 million won seed investment from Seoul National University Technology Holding and has been selected for the TIPS program of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The funding will accelerate development of medical software for hospitals and consumer wellness services, and support expansion into overseas markets. The company uses approximately 10 seconds of electrocardiogram data to predict more than 30 blood biomarkers, leveraging over 4 million matched ECG and blood test records from Seoul National University Hospital and its affiliates.
By eliminating the need for blood draws, Wavena aims to reduce testing time from the usual 120 minutes to within 30 minutes. The startup reported AUROC scores of 0.89 to 0.92 for predicting key biomarkers such as hyperkalemia, renal function, anemia, and heart failure. It plans to expand its dataset through a network of 20 nephrology hospitals and refine algorithms for dialysis patients. Wavena is advancing four product pipelines, including Wavena Medical, a real-time alert service for dialysis rooms targeting Food and Drug Safety Ministry approval next year, and Wavena One, a smartwatch‑linked wellness app for consumers.
Additional projects are GlucoWave, a non‑invasive continuous glucose monitoring technology, and Wavet, an AI electrocardiogram solution for pets. The company, founded in January 2026, has secured foundational patents and PCT filings and is focused on clinical validation and regulatory compliance to enter the medical AI market.
