Vasseur Says Team Expected More After Baku Struggles

Team principal Fred Vasseur spoke to Sky Sport after the Baku Grand Prix, where Charles Leclerc finished fourth and Lewis Hamilton sixth. He said the team knew the race would be difficult because of the engine power and straight‑line speed. They started from second position but did not meet expectations, losing positions early and staying on the defensive throughout.

Vasseur added that straight‑line speed will carry more weight in the next two events and expressed hope for improvement. He noted that Malaysia could perform better, but the team must analyse what could have been done better this weekend.

Although they earned more points than McLaren in the constructors’ championship, the objective remains to win races and fight for the championship.
