MARBLE raises 6.5 million euros to make financial compliance programmable
The startup MARBLE announced a Series A funding round of 6.5 million euros led by SMARTFIN, with participation from ADNEXUS, PASSION CAPITAL, and 42CAPITAL. MARBLE is developing an open-source platform for fraud detection and financial compliance, with the aim of replacing the slow configuration cycles of outdated tools. In a financial institution, risks rarely evolve at the pace of the systems designed to detect them, prompting the need for adjustments when new fraud emerges or regulatory obligations change.
The funding round brings the total capital raised by the company to 9 million euros. MARBLE's primary goal is not just to integrate artificial intelligence into an already saturated market but to create a compliance infrastructure that aligns more closely with product and engineering team practices. This infrastructure is designed to be configurable, traceable, connected to internal data, and capable of evolving without necessitating a complete transformation program for every risk change.
MARBLE's platform aims to streamline the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing processes by enhancing customer knowledge, transaction monitoring, sanctions checking, and alert management. Historically, these operations have relied on large software packages designed more for control than for continuous adaptability, often leading to complex configurations and long integrations.
The financial landscape has transformed, with transactions now being instantaneous, international, and multi-channel. Payment institutions, neobanks, and fintechs demand rapid adaptation to evolving fraud schemes without waiting for project committee approvals. MARBLE's solution is a real-time decision engine that monitors transactions, filters AML risks, manages investigations, and adjusts detection rules. Its open-source model prioritizes developer-friendly design, enabling institutions to maintain control over their systems.
The competitive landscape includes established players with comprehensive solutions, such as NICE ACTIMIZE and ORACLE Financial Crime and Compliance Management, alongside newer specialists like COMPLYADVANTAGE and HAWK AI. MARBLE's approach focuses on real-time compliance, data integration, and the ability to deploy within clients' infrastructures, allowing organizations to keep transaction-related data within their own environments. This shift reflects a broader trend in finance towards a more integrated approach to compliance and fraud detection. FrenchWeb reported the story.
