Indent raises 1.1 billion JPY in Series B funding for Nola
Indent, which runs the creative platform Nola, announced on October 7 that it has secured a total of 1.1 billion JPY in a Series B funding round.
The funds were raised through a third-party allocation of shares from investors including JAFCO, Nippon Life Capital, and Simplex Capital Investment (EX Innovation Fund), as well as loans from the Development Bank of Japan. The round reached its final close in April this year, although the breakdown of the investment and loan amounts has not been disclosed.
Nola supports creators from story writing to commercialization. Writers can plan, plot, develop characters, and write manuscripts, with data synchronized between PCs and smartphones.
The platform also features unique functions that connect writers with over 60 companies both domestically and internationally. It works on original project planning and production through an agent function, facilitating commercialization and media mix adaptations of works.
For companies and editorial departments, Nola provides a system for discovering, producing, and distributing original works in line with each company's production policies. The "Nola Agent Function" allows users to search for original works from a pool of up to 3.5 million pieces, including those not posted on novel submission sites. The "Editorial Board Bulletin" feature enables editorial departments to post their desired work profiles to solicit submissions.
As of August this year, the number of writers on Nola surpassed 750,000, with over 65 labels participating in the creation of original IP.
