Recycling company esa has announced that it secured funding from four investors, including Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation and SG Wonder zone, on October 13. This funding round brings the total amount raised to 1.15 billion JPY.

The investment includes contributions from both new investors and additional funding from existing shareholders. However, specific details regarding the amount raised in this round, the type of funding round, and the company's valuation were not disclosed.

esa focuses on recycling complex plastics, which combine different materials that are difficult to separate and recycle. The company utilizes its proprietary technology known as the "esa method" to process these materials, which involves specialized mixing mechanisms and controlled temperature and pressure to ensure stable recycling even when different types of materials are mixed.

The recycled plastic pellets produced, called "Repla," can be used in various applications, including injection molding and sheet molding. Examples of products developed include packaging for shopping bags and trash bags that contain 60% Repla, as well as wheelchair components made by mixing Repla with virgin resin.

The funds raised will be allocated to strengthen the production and supply system for composite recycled pellets. This announcement was reported by BRIDGE.
