Comp AI secures 34 million USD in Series A funding led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures
The startup Comp AI, focused on cybersecurity and compliance, announced on September 17 that it has raised 34 million USD in a Series A funding round. The round was jointly led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures.
Comp AI highlighted that companies often need security certifications such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 when contracting new clients. To obtain these certifications, companies must demonstrate various evidences, including proper management of access rights, employee security training, and compliance with cloud environment standards.
The company noted in its announcement that these tasks have traditionally relied on manual methods, often dependent on spreadsheets, and that audits have typically provided only periodic snapshots of compliance status. This point-in-time verification can miss changes that occur between audits.
Comp AI offers a platform that delegates this series of tasks to AI agents. Companies begin by selecting the necessary frameworks, such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, or GDPR. The agents then generate documentation for security policies, connect to the cloud and vendor tools used internally, and continuously gather evidence to detect deviations from standards and prepare for audits.
For management portals that lack APIs, the company also provides a mechanism to obtain evidence through browser automation. This approach shifts from point-in-time audits to continuous monitoring.
A key differentiation for Comp AI is that it offers this system as open source. The company explains that all aspects, including agents, integrations, and checklists, can be verified on GitHub. It contrasts its self-service model, guided by AI, with existing tools that require dedicated governance, risk, and compliance personnel, emphasizing that lean development teams can produce audit-ready outputs.
