CarbonFarm, a French agritech company, announced a 7 million euro Series A funding round on 2026-10-13. The round was led by Colam Impact and included participation from Proparco, Suma Capital, Elea, Working Capital Fund, Albo and Bpifrance. Historical investors Serena and MakeSense and Techmind also renewed their support. The company was founded in 2021 by Vassily Carantino and James Hastwell. It plans to use the capital to accelerate international expansion and strengthen its agricultural emissions measurement technologies.

CarbonFarm uses artificial intelligence to monitor rice fields and help farmers reduce methane emissions. Its system combines satellite imagery analysis, ground data collection and greenhouse gas modelling to track practices and estimate emissions at the parcel level. Measured reductions can generate certified carbon credits that can be sold to companies. The company already operates in 19 countries and works with groups such as Mars Food, Diageo, Ebro and Tilda as well as BASF Agricultural Solutions. It also collaborates with the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and Google.

With the new funding CarbonFarm aims to strengthen its presence in Asia, Africa and Europe and expand into Latin America. It will also develop its project financing and management capabilities beyond its measurement technology. Founders say scaling will come from empowering local actors in the value chain rather than replacing them. The funding reflects growing investor interest in agritech solutions that address climate challenges.
