Beff, a company that develops and manufactures battery platforms, raised an additional 300 million yen in Series A funding. The company announced that it had completed the final close of its Series A round, bringing the total amount raised in this round to 750 million yen. The funding round was led by Genesis Ventures, with participation from Mitsubishi UFJ Capital, Sumitomo Mitsui Venture Partners, and the corporate venture capital arm of JA Mitsui Leasing Group, JM Strategic Innovation Fund. This brings Beff's total funding to 950 million yen. Beff was established in July 2023 and has offices in Tokyo and Stuttgart, Germany.

The company is co-led by two former Nissan battery engineers, Koji Nagano and Shunsuke Amagase, who serve as co-CEOs. Nagano previously led the development of solid-state battery materials at Toyota, while Amagase spearheaded the development of battery packs for electric vehicles at Mercedes-Benz. Beff's platform integrates material data, design schematics, evaluation conditions, and measurement results, digitizing the process from development to mass production verification. The company's platform, Beff Navigator, is designed to support the entire battery supply chain, from trading companies to material manufacturers.

Customers include Seika Sangyo GmbH. The funds raised in this round will be used to hire global talent and invest in the company's own laboratory. Beff aims to accelerate the development of its platform, enhance customer support, and expand its laboratory facilities to strengthen its integrated development base for both hardware and software. The company seeks to improve the productivity of battery development and manufacturing and enhance the efficiency of the entire industry. The Bridge reported the story.
