Axon invests in Immersion Labs to expand MetaCoach platform

Axon has invested in Immersion Labs, a Warsaw-based company, to expand the distribution and development of its artificial intelligence training platform, MetaCoach. The investment marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the two firms, which began several years ago when Immersion Labs started supplying software to Axon. Immersion Labs has since become a co-creator of key virtual reality training products used by hundreds of thousands of police officers and uniformed service employees in the United States. The new investment allows Axon to include the Polish platform in its official offer for business clients, facilitating rapid scaling and implementation in major global corporations.

Immersion Labs reported that the investment will be used to further develop MetaCoach, an AI-based training platform where employees learn through interaction with AI-controlled characters. The platform covers a wide range of skills, from de-escalation strategies and effective communication to team management and problem-solving. By allowing employees to practice in a safe, controlled environment, the platform ensures that workers are prepared for real-world situations. Additionally, training managers receive ongoing reports and feedback from the conducted sessions.

Axon, which provides solutions to government agencies and major American enterprises, will integrate MetaCoach into its portfolio, which includes body cameras, TASER devices, and VR training. This integration is expected to help scale the product quickly. Currently, dozens of Fortune 500 companies use Immersion Labs solutions, and these companies collectively employ four million workers. The platform is seeing the fastest growth in the healthcare and retail sectors, serving some of the largest hospital systems in the United States and major global retail chains.

The partnership also targets the law enforcement market, where Axon offers MetaCoach as a complement to its existing products. In the United States alone, approximately 800,000 police officers work, representing a significant potential user base. Immersion Labs plans to implement additional AI components for automating scenario creation for specific clients. The company also intends to increase the number of available training scenarios from 300 to 600, adapting them to the requirements of other industries such as banking, logistics, and hospitality.
