Monster Riot, a webtoon production company led by the creator of 'Terror Man', has secured its first investment in a Series A round, reportedly receiving approximately 700,000,000 KRW from Union Investment Partners.

Based in Busan, with a branch in Tokyo, Monster Riot specializes in producing action and fantasy webtoons, with over 90% of its works falling into the action, fantasy, and thriller genres. The company handles all aspects of production in-house, from story development to final artwork review. Currently, Monster Riot holds rights to 10 original IPs, three of which have been contracted for game and video production rights, and has ongoing serialization in eight countries abroad.

The company identifies the action fantasy genre as a niche with high reader demand but limited production capabilities. While this genre allows for easy expansion into animation and gaming, it presents challenges in artwork complexity, leading to longer production times and a shortage of skilled personnel. Monster Riot aims to establish itself as a leading studio in this specialized field.

The funding will be used to secure original IP, enhance AI-based production tools, onboard exclusive writers, and strengthen original planning. The company aims to accumulate 100 works within three years by increasing its repertoire through adaptations of web novels and original projects.

The representative of the company stated, "Action fantasy is a genre that naturally expands into comics, animation, and games, but there are not many studios capable of producing it. We will consistently build strong original IP and enhance our production capabilities to create globally appealing IPs." Platum reported the story.
