Bluebook founder Philip Andersson joins OpenAI as its first hire in Sweden
Philip Andersson, co-founder of the Swedish AI accounting startup Bluebook, has joined OpenAI to lead the establishment of its new Stockholm office. Andersson will focus on Applied AI Engineering and support Nordic startups within the company. OpenAI announced in mid-June that it would open a Stockholm office in the second half of 2026 as part of its European expansion plans.
Andersson, who previously served as CEO of Bluebook, confirmed on LinkedIn that he had begun his new role a week ago at OpenAI’s headquarters in San Francisco. He described the experience as unparalleled in pace, people, and purpose. Andersson also expressed interest in connecting with Nordic tech builders to strengthen OpenAI’s regional presence.
Bluebook, which Andersson co-founded, ceased operations earlier this year. His transition to OpenAI marks the company’s first official hiring move in Sweden, aligning with its broader strategy to expand across Europe.
