AZOO, which develops the integrated hotel operating system WASIMIL, announced on October 14 that it has raised a total of 490 million JPY in a Series A funding round.

The funding round was led by Mobile Internet Capital, with participation from DNX Capital, Kyoshin Social Capital, and ALL STAR SAAS FUND. WASIMIL is a comprehensive system for the hospitality industry that combines over 15 functions, including property management systems (PMS), booking management, site controllers, customer relationship management (CRM), revenue management, accounting, and marketing. This integration aims to manage all aspects of hotel operations on a single platform, streamlining previously separate systems into one.

The company is advancing a mechanism that automatically processes back-office tasks for hospitality using AI agents based on this integrated data. They are reportedly implementing features such as shift scheduling based on demand forecasts while working with major ryokans and hotels on demonstrations. ALL STAR SAAS FUND, which has been investing in the company for three years, noted that large hospitality facilities are increasingly adopting the system.

The backdrop to this development is a labor shortage in the hospitality industry. According to the company, while the number of inbound tourists has reached record levels, the industry faces a labor shortage of over 150,000, which is constraining supply and causing missed opportunities in the face of rising demand.

The funds will be allocated to hiring personnel responsible for AI implementation and to the AX (AI transformation) partner business for hotel chains. The recruitment will focus on "deployment strategists" who will develop operational transformation strategies through dialogue with hotel chain executives and lead product implementation. The partner business will involve integrating operational insights gained on-site into WASIMIL's automation.
