Amazon introduces new Android tablets with Alexa+ integration
Amazon has announced the launch of three new tablets featuring native Android systems and integration with Alexa+.
Tecmundo reported that the new lineup consists of the 12 Pro, 11, and 8 models, with prices starting at 229 US dollars.
The Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro features a 12-inch screen with 2.8K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 3:2 aspect ratio. It is constructed from a single aluminum sheet with a thickness of 6.5 mm. A Nanomatte screen option, developed with Corning using a photolithography process, is available to eliminate reflections while maintaining contrast and color accuracy.
These devices mark the first time the company has used the Android system, allowing users to download applications from the Play Store and providing built-in access to Chrome, Gmail, Docs, and YouTube. The tablets include Alexa+, an artificial intelligence-enhanced version of the assistant that can control compatible devices and answer questions. A feature called On-Screen Intelligence allows the assistant to read screen content to assist with user queries, though this can be disabled.
For reading, the 12 Pro model includes Kindle Sanctuary to optimize display settings. On the Nanomatte screen, this function mimics paper texture to improve legibility and text sharpness. The Tablet 11 is positioned for entertainment with an 11-inch 2.5K display and more modest memory and processing power. The Tablet 8 is designed as an e-reader, weighing 329g with an 8-inch screen.
Additionally, the company revealed Amazon Tablets Kids. These models feature colorful protective covers and a tool called Storybuilder, which uses voice commands to create original illustrated stories.
While the tablets are available in international markets, there is currently no information regarding their availability in Brazil.
