A-System secures funding of 13 billion KRW for drone development

A-System has successfully secured a series A investment totaling 13 billion KRW, aiming to develop unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) capable of countering large drone systems (C-UAS) and to establish a mass production system. The funding was led by LB Investment, with participation from eight other institutions, including Korea Development Bank and Mirae Asset Venture Investment.

The company plans to utilize the funds for the development of UAVs that can address C-UAS systems, as well as for expanding production facilities and automated equipment. A-System focuses on creating cost-effective UAVs while ensuring competitive performance in the market.

Founded in 2019, A-System operates its headquarters in Cheonan and a production facility in Hwaseong. The company manages all development processes in-house, from UAV design to composite molding and avionics. Its main products include vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) fixed-wing platforms and educational multicopters.

A-System is concentrating on enhancing the survivability of UAVs in C-UAS environments. It is developing technologies related to low radar cross-section designs, GPS-denied navigation, anti-jamming techniques, and terminal phase avoidance flight, which have been validated through tests conducted by the Agency for Defense Development (ADD).

The recent investment will support the application of battlefield survivability technologies while reducing production costs for UAVs. A-System is also working on the next-generation UAV platform, AD-4000, with plans to complete its development by 2027. This investment marks a significant step towards expanding the company's technological capabilities and production infrastructure.
